Call of Duty World at War now with co-op

Published in xboxwiiplaystationpc by Ebrahim Sadien |
I have to confess that I am a complete World War history fan. I watch the History channel documentaries so that I can confirm things which I have read, also it's much more exciting in living colour.

When I first played Call of Duty I was ecstatic because of its historical accuracy, I played through all the installments including the super short United Offensive and the really mediocre Call of Duty 3.

I was disapointed by the move to the contemporary arena in Call of Duty 4 but they did such a good job of the game that I really could not hate it for very long.

World at War returns to World War 2 and to the Pacific theatre specifically. Even more exciting is the fact that they have included co-op. Check out the trailer here .

It will be released locally in October.

Lord Vader

Soul Calibur 4 will feature Darth Vader and Yoda as new characters. I have never been much of a Soul Calibur fan, I prefer fighting games where the out come is determined by the player that mashes buttons the best. This is why I love Dead or Alive so much, well just Hyabusa really. But then I have always had a thing for Ninjas.

The Star Wars crossover does seem like an odd match. But if you are a Star Wars fan then this may well float your boat.

Rumour and innuendo

Published in xboxplaystationlive arcade by Ebrahim Sadien |
I saw two news posts on Maxconsole speculating about a price cut for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. At this point it appears to be speculation only but any price cut is good for the beleaguered consumer.

In other Xbox news, Undertow will be available for free for a limited time on Xbox Live. This is part of Microsoft’s damage control programme as a result of the XBL downtime.

Playstation 3 cheaper than an Xbox 360

Published in xboxplaystation by Ebrahim Sadien |
If you are a Standard bank credit card holder you can purchase a PlayStation 3 for R2849.50 which is about a 50% discount on the retail price. This is the 60GB version which is compatible with PlayStation 2 games. It also comes with two games as well as a T-shirt and cap.

The catch of course is that there are only 30 available so you had better warm up your credit card now.

I have read the article on Penny-Arcade regarding the reviews of Assassin’s Creed. The reviews have been mixed and Gabe says that it is because reviewers have been rushed in playing the game. I understand that there is pressure and intense competition to post a review first but there is little point in being first if the quality of the review is compromised. A review is simply one person’s opinion of a game and if that opinion is incomplete and inaccurate then there is no reason to give it any weight.

With the sheer volume of releases at this time of year, trying to do reviews which do justice to the games must be a complete nightmare.

Crysis eats PCs and its official. I was reading the article over at Gamespot, they mentioned that when they cranked up all the visual settings to maximum their test rigs started to drop frames. This is horrifying.

It is all well and good to have a game which pushes the limits of GPU technology but this is nuts. If I spent R3000.00 on a graphics card and it could not handle a game I would feel cheated.

You do have the option of reducing the settings so that your PC does not catch alight but where is the fun in that?
